Cybersecurity for small and mid-sized businesses

Word cloud on IT Cyber Security topics

Hexaport protects small and mid-sized businesses with layered security: if one control fails, the next one stops the attack. We design, install and monitor each layer using enterprise tools from Fortinet, SentinelOne, TitanHQ, Ubiquiti, N-Able and Microsoft sized and priced for businesses with 10 to 150 staff.

Who it's for

Businesses that handle customer, patient or financial data, need to meet a cyber insurance questionnaire, or have never had an outside security review. Our healthcare clients include pharmacies, dental practices and medical clinics that must protect patient records under Canadian privacy law.

“Our company has confidently chosen Hexaport for our IT needs. They always make sure we’re ahead of the technology curve, and are also very enjoyable to work with.” - Uvalux International Inc.

FAQs

  1. What cybersecurity does a small business need at minimum? At minimum: multi-factor authentication on email and remote access, endpoint protection on every PC and server, email filtering, a business-grade firewall, regular patching, tested backups kept offline or immutable, and basic staff training. Most breaches at small businesses exploit one of these gaps.

  2. Will this help with our cyber insurance application? Yes. Most cyber insurance applications now ask about MFA, endpoint protection, backups and staff training. We put those controls in place and document them so you can answer the questionnaire accurately.

  3. What happens if we are hit by ransomware? We isolate affected systems, remove the threat and restore from immutable backups that ransomware can't encrypt. We also help you assess whether you must report the incident to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals under PIPEDA.

  4. Do you offer penetration testing? Yes. Through our partner EzoTech we run vulnerability scans and penetration tests that show where an attacker could get in, followed by a prioritized fix list.
